Elder Ephraim taken off ventilator, as condition significantly improves

Attending physicians treating the Elder Archimandrite Ephraim at the Evangelismos Hospital’s ICU ward on early Monday morning proceeded to remove his intubation through a tracheotomy.
After the auspicious development, the beloved Abbot of the Holy & Great Monastery of Vatopedi will remain in the same ICU ward for a few days more, under the constant care of his attending physicians and nursing staff.

The Elder Ephraim is awake, lucid and communicating with those around him.
The Athonite Elder has been treated at the specific public hospital in central Athens since May 28, after testing positive for the Covid-19 virus. Physicians decided for his intubation on June 4.
