US raps latest Erdogan provocation, this time regarding Cyprus

The US administration on Tuesday sternly condemned a same-day provocation by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who, speaking from the occupied areas of Cyprus during events by illegal occupation forces to commemorate the barbarous 1974 invasion of the island republic, said a portion of an abandoned and occupied coastal resort would be transferred to Turkish Cypriot control.

In a statement, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said called the announcement “provocative” and “unacceptable.” He added “…the United States is working with like-minded partners to refer this concerning situation to the UN Security Council and will urge a strong response.”
