THE RESULTS: Essay Challenge — Celebrating 200-Years of Greek Independence
Our Holy Archdiocese is pleased to announce the results of the Greek Independence Essay Challenge.
The theme of the challenge, which was opened to all Greek Orthodox youth in Canada, was: Why are you proud to be Greek?
Many submissions were received from across the country for the two age categories (8-12 and 13-17 year-olds). Each essay was carefully reviewed by a committee of clergymen based on content, organization, style, language, and creativity and originality. After careful consideration, the successful writers are:
We congratulate these Greek Orthodox youths and we also extend our appreciation and congratulations to all youth who took the time and initiative to submit an essay. Each submission was unique and offered a refreshing perspective from the next generation of Greek Orthodox in Canada.
As we continue to celebrate 200-years of Greek Independence (1821-2021), we honour the heroes of the Greek revolution, while at the same time put our hope and trust in our youth. If the response and commitment to this essay challenge is any indication, the future is bright!
