Sessions of the Inter-parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy, entitled “The Future of Europe and the World after the Pandemic”, commenced in the western Crete resort town of Georgioupolis today, and will continue until Sunday. Lawmakers from 25 countries from around the world are attending the assembly.
Beyond the theme of the four-day conference, delegates will also discuss efforts to brief the international community over the insolent decision by the Erdogan regime in Turkey to reconvert the iconic Hagia Sophia into a mosque.
Along with some 100 Christian Orthodox elected officials, representatives of Orthodox Churches, parliamentary organizations and academics will also be in attendance.
