During the Service of the Small Compline, the Great Canon of St. Andrew of Crete was read at the Patriarchal Monastery of St. Savvas the Sanctified, in Alexandria on Wednesday.
The Archbishop of Alexandria and All Africa, His Most Divine Beatitude Theodoros II, officiated at the service along with several hierarchs of the Alexandria Patriarchate.

Before the Dismissal, Deacon Fr. Kevin Madahana Luyali was tonsured as a rasophore, or robe-wearing monk, by the Patriarch of Alexandria – who gave him the name Joachim, thus honoring St. Joachim I of Alexandria.

Fr. Joachim was born and baptized in Kenya, where he studied at the patriarchal school Archbishop of Cyprus Makarios III, in Nairobi.

The Great Canon of St. Andrew of Crete was also read out at the Monastic Church of Saints Constantine and Helen in Jerusalem, with the service led by the Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Most Godly Beatitude Theophilos III.
