Serbian Patriarch Porfirije: Agreement between Church, Montenegro state pending

The Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Porfirije, this week referred to a pending framework agreement between the Serbian Orthodox Church and the small Adriatic country of Montenegro normalizing and resolving all outstanding issues between the two sides.
His Holiness, in an interview, said the Church is working towards resolving these long-standing issues with the Montenegro state, with a mutually acceptable agreement expected to be “…signed very soon, towards the benefit of the faithful, and at the same time, as part of the democratic responsibility of the state of Montenegro”.

Christian Orthodoxy is the predominant and most ancient religious faith in the small and picturesque country, which lies north of Albania on the eastern Adriatic coast.
