Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday again visited the isle of Konevets on Lake Ladoga, where the historic Konevsky Monastery of the Nativity of the Theotokos is located. The 9th century monastery has undergone renovations over the past four years. Putin was given a guided tour of all of its sections and then prayed in the monastery’s catholicos, or main cathedral.
