The Romanian Orthodox Church’s St. Alexandra the Empress Counseling Center for Parents and Children opened on October 1, 2017.

Since then, the center has supported more than 750 pregnant women and mothers with several children, reports the Basilica News Agency.

The center offers free psychological counseling, therapy, support groups, breastfeeding classes, emergency material help, items for childbirth, money for rent and medical services, and mentoring and education for mothers.

“Institutional support for pregnant women is a challenging path,” said Alexandra Nadane, Executive Director of the Association for the Support of Pregnant Women and the Family, the organization that founded the center.

“But nothing compares to the joy we all experience when a mother sends us pictures from the maternity ward with her baby,” she continued.
