Patriarch of Serbia conducts a memorial service for Serbian warriors who fell at historic 1389 Battle of Kosovo
The Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Porfirije, on Monday conducted a memorial service for the medieval Serbian warriors who fell at the historic 1389 Battle of Kosovo. His Holiness told the gathered faithful that Kosovo is “…the home of the Orthodox Christian Serbs”, while also adding that the Church sees Albanians as brethren.
Speaking from the northern Kosovo town of Gracanica on St. Vitus day, the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church added: “…The home of the Orthodox Christian Serbs is Kosovo; the land where we were born for Christ and where we gained a great deal of what others cannot, or will not understand… the heritage of our fathers, the heritage of Orthodox Serbs, one that should not bother anyone. Everyone has their own heritage, everyone has their own culture and everyone prays to God in some way. We, the Orthodox Serbs ,pray to the Orthodox Christian Christ — crucified and resurrected.”
