Patriarch of Alexandria bestows Grand Cross of Mark the Apostle on visiting Greek PM

The Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, His Most Divine Beatitude Theodoros II, on Monday presented visiting Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis with the Patriarchate’s highest distinction, the Grand Cross of Mark the Apostle.

In greeting Greece’s premier to the ancient port city, the Patriarch of Alexandria noted “..I am delighted because today, after such a dynamic meeting with the enlightened leader of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi… I can welcome you to Hellenic Alexandria…”

On his part, Mitsotakis reaffirmed the full support of the Greek state in the mission and works of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa.

Afterwards, the Greek prime minister arrived at the national museum of Alexandria, where he was given a guided tour by archaeologist Kalliope Limneou-Papakosta.
