The Archbishop of Tirana, Durres and All Albania, His Eminence Anastasios, in a sermon at the Cathedral of the Resurrection in Tirana a day earlier, referred to the Sunday of the Myrrh-Bearing Women, noting that the faithful should be bolder in life, and through the latter express their love for God.
In south-central Greece, an Archieratical Divine Liturgy was held on Sunday, the feast day of the Myrrh-Bearing Women, at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Theotokos, in the city of Lamia, with the Metropolitan of Arta, His Eminence Kallinikos officiating. The Metropolitan of Glyfada, His Eminence Antonios, as the representative of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, and the resident Metropolitan of Fthiotida, His Eminence Symeon, co-officiated.

After the Divine Liturgy, the Metropolitans, representing the Holy Synod, arrived at the cenotaph of national martyr Athanasios Diakos, where they held a memorial service for the Greek War of Independence hero.

Further to the east, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, in his sermon on the Sunday of the Myrrh-Bearing Women, from the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Tbilisi, called on the faithful not to fear amid the difficult period faced by humanity, noting that “goodness always prevails.”

Back in southeast Europe, the Patriarch of All Romania, His Beatitude Daniel, spoke from the chapel of the Patriarchal residence in Bucharest, stressing that it is “…the duty of all the men of the Church to appreciate the faith, piety and humble hard work of women.”

On the occasion of the Sunday of the Myrrh-Bearing Women, the Patriarch of Romania recounted the humility and courage exhibited by those Biblical women, who comprised the beginning of the Church’s ministry and mission for Christian women.

The Sunday of the Myrrh-Bearing Women has been officially designated by the Patriarchate of Romania as a day dedicated to the Christian woman.
