Orthodox Primates officiate at Holy Wednesday services
The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, on Wednesday issued his Easter message, where he noted that
“…As we celebrate Pascha, we confess in Church that the Kingdom of God ‘has been already inaugurated, but not yet fulfilled.’ In the light of the Resurrection, earthly things assume new significance, because they are already transformed and transfigured. Nothing is simply ‘given.’
Still in the region, the Archbishop of Tirana, Durres, and All Albania, His Beatitude Anastasios, in his Easter message, emphasized that “…the Resurrection of Christ, proclaiming the victory of life over death and all destructive passions, calls us to rejoice in our liberation from their dynasty. And in a world torn by deadly hostility and analgesia, let us become fighters against hatred and its various mutations. And to fight with unwavering faith, to strengthen the unity, the harmonious co-existence of the people and the peoples.”
Halfway around the world, the Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidophoros, also issued an Encyclical on the occasion of the upcoming Feast of Great Pascha, Holy Easter, where he underlined that “…This year, we will celebrate our Holy Pascha – perhaps not in the fullness of the pre-pandemic days, but certainly with a greater degree of freedom and in-person community. But let this not be an excuse for relaxing our vigilance. Our responsibility to be our brothers’ and sisters’ keeper and guardian abides.”
