The Service of the Holy Unction was celebrated on Holy Wednesday at the Patriarchal cathedral of St. George, in the Phanar district where the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople is located, with the Ecumenical Patriarch, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, co-officiating.

In the Holy Land, the Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Most Godly Beatitude Theophilos III, officiated at the Sacrament of the Holy Unction, which was conducted at the Monastic Church of Sts. Constantine and Helen, and co-celebrated by seven Archbishops according to the order of the Church.

Still in the same region, the Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, His Most Divine Beatitude Theodoros II, emphasized, in his Easter message that “…true Easter is the experience of the sacrifice of the God-man, our Lord Jesus Christ; it is a sacrifice; it is an offering, especially of ourselves to man.”
