Multi-session online con’f focusing on Greek Revolution of 1821 commences

An online and multi-session conference focusing on the Greek Revolution of 1821, co-organized by the Holy & Great Monastery of Vatopedi and the Holy Metropolis of Nea Krinis and Kalamaria, was inaugurated on Monday.
The opening of the virtual conference was declared by the Metropolitan of Nea Krinis and Kalamaria, His Eminence Ioustinos, while the main speaker was Aristotle University of Thessaloniki professor of theology Georgios Mantzaridis, who spoke on the topic of “Hesychasm and National Uprising”.

Opening statements were also made by former Greek president of the republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos, the president of the St. Maximus the Greek Institute, prof. Apostolos Nikolaidis, as well as the Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi.

Pavlopoulos touched on several topics that are the focus of the conference, while he also expressed his best wishes to the Abbot Ephraim.
