The chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for the Church’s relations with Society and Mass Media, Vladimir Legoida, this month emphasized that the Russian Church does not oppose new technologies — when asked to address concerns by some faithful regarding accelerated digital reforms underway in the vast country.
Legoida stressed that the Russian Orthodox Church does not consider digital technologies as something sinful, but it does consider as unacceptable, the use of such technologies by any entity to control an individual’s life, whether this be the state or commercial interests.
