Mikis Theodorakis laid to rest in village outside Cretan city of Hania

Iconic Greek composer and distinguished personality Mikis Theodorakis was laid to rest on Thursday in a small village cemetery in western Crete. The body of the great artist was transported by vessel from the mainland to the large island of Crete earlier in the day.
An exodios funeral service was held at the St. Nicholas church in the historic village of Galata, outside the port city of Hania, with interment at the nearby cemetery of St. John.

A trisagion prayer service was earlier held in Hania at the cathedral of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos, officiated by the First Secretary of the Metropolis of Kydonia, His Grace Damaskinos, Bishop of Dori-LE-ou
