Metropolitan of Ilion Athenagoras appointed as Exarch of adjacent Metropolis of Peristeri for 3 months

Members of the Church of Greece’s permanent Holy Synod convened in an extraordinary “virtual” session on Friday and later announced that the Metropolitan of Ilion, His Eminence Athenagoras, has been appointed as the Exarch Metropolitan of Peristeri, as the latter’s Metropolitan, His Eminence Klimis, is deemed as unable to carry out his ecclesiastical duties due to illness.

Both Metropolises are located adjacent to each other in west Athens.

His Eminence Athenagoras’ tenure will apply for three months and cover all ongoing matters affecting the Metropolis of Ilion.
