The Russian Church’s Metropolitan of Volokolamsk, His Eminence Hilarion, this week spoke about his travels to the strife-plagued province of Kosovo and Metohija, on the sidelines of a program called “Church and Peace”.
His Eminence said he saw with his own eyes the consequences from the conflict in Kosovo.
Hilarion, who is the chairman of the Department of External Church Relations and a permanent member of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Moscow, added: “…I saw with my own eyes the monstrous results of armed conflict. I saw destroyed churches and communities left behind by the Serbs…We in the Russian Orthodox Church have always responsibly supported the Serbian Orthodox Church and its interests throughout its historical and canonical jurisdiction, which of course includes Kosovo.”
