Memory of St. Sophia and her 3 martyred daughters commemorated in splendor in the Mantinia region

The memory of St. Sophia and her three martyred daughters was commemorated in splendor on Thursday at a chapel dedicated to the saints in the village of Fteri, in the Mantinia region of the Peloponnese, in southern Greece.
Numerous faithful and pilgrims were on hand for a con-celebratory Vespers officiated by the Bishop of Tegea, His Grace Theoklitos, the First Secretary of the Metropolis of Mantinia and Kynouria.

His Grace spoke on the martyrdom of the saints, and conveyed the best wishes of the Metropolitan of Mantinia and Kynouria, His Eminence Alexandros.

On the small Ionian Isle of Meganissi, which located next to Lefkada, the feast day of St. Vissarion, the island’s patron saint, was celebrated this week in the main town of Vathy with an Archieratical Divine Liturgy officiated by the Metropolitan of Lefkada and Ithaca, His Eminence Theofilos.

A Gospel reading was conducted by the Very Reverend Archimandrite Fr. Ioannikios Zambelis, who referred to the life and works of St. Vissarion.
