An archieratical memorial service was officiated on Sunday by the Metropolitan of Leros, Kalymnos & Astypalea, His Eminence Paisios, at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, in the harbor of Lakki, on the Dodecanese island of Leros, for the repose of the souls of three Greek Navy officers who fell in the line of duty in February 2016.
After the memorial service, the Metropolitan, local office-holders, civil and military leaders attended a solemn service revealing a monument to the three fallen officers, lieutenants Anastasios Toulitsis, Constantinos Pananas and master chief Eleftherios Evangeliou. The trio died when their military helicopter crashed on the small islet of Kinaros.
