The memory of ethnomartyr Polykarpos, the early 19th century Metropolitan of Larissa, was commemorated on Thursday by the Holy Metropolis of Larissa and Tyrnavos, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of his death in the cause of Greek liberation from dour Ottoman rule.
During a ceremony, the Metropolitan of Larissa and Tyrnavos, His Eminence Ieronymos, officiated at a memorial service for the repose of the soul of his predecessor, held before a bust of Metropolitan Polykarpos, outside the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. Achillios.
