Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Friday morning received the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, at the former’s Maximos Mansion office in central Athens.
According to reports by the Orthodoxia news agency, both sides discussed the agenda for Monday’s extraordinary session of the Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece, in which Mitsotakis will also be present.

The first-ever presence of a Greek prime minister at a Holy Synod session has been described as “historic”.

Besides the course of the ongoing pandemic in the country, talks also reportedly revolved around Church-state relations in Greece.

Education and Religious Affairs Minister Niki Kerameos also participated at Friday’s meeting.
