Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church convenes in Bucharest
The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church was convened on Wednesday at the Patriarchate’s seat in Bucharest, with the Patriarch of All Romania, His Beatitude Daniel, presiding.
The primary issue on the agenda was a proposal for the future canonization of several reposed clerics who exhibited courage, fortitude and resilience in faith during the communist era in the country. Another topic up for discussion was the creation of two new Romanian Orthodox dioceses abroad, namely, in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and in Dubai.
After the session, members of the Holy Synod presented the Romanian Patriarch with commemorative presents, as today, Thursday, marks his 70th birthday.
