The Greek government this week again warned of a serious situation entailed for public health with the feared spread of the Omikron variant of the Covid-19 virus.
In comments after a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the country’s prime minister said the first priority is for the public to celebrate the holidays in safety, with the foremost weapon against the pandemic being vaccinations and tests.
The Greek government has precluded the prospect of another lockdown, saying this is something that the economy and society cannot endure.
At the same time, public health officials in the country have cautioned against any let up in public health precautions and social distancing protocols.
