On the eastern Aegean island of Psara, commemorations for the bicentennial of the beginning of the Greek War of Independence concluded with a splendorous event in the isle’s main harbor, dedicated to revolutionary hero and admiral Konstantinos Kanaris and his men.
The events commenced with a doxology service at the Metropolitan Cathedral on the nearby island of Chios, officiated by the Metropolitan of Chios, Psara and Inousses, His Eminence Markos, followed by a memorial service and the laying of wreaths at a grand monument to Kanaris.
