The Greek government on Tuesday appeared to backed down from the prospect, as widely reported this week by local media, of requiring negative rapid tests for entry into indoor public areas, by both unvaccinated and vaccinated individuals in the country.

Instead, a strong recommendation was issued for people planning to attend holiday festivities to conduct at least two self-tests per week for the Covid-19 virus. As such, an online platform to allocate two free self-tests per week will be reactivated, according to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
