The Church today commemorates the Transfiguration of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. According to tradition, the Lord’s Transfiguration came to pass 40 days before His Crucifixion; this is why the Transfiguration is celebrated 40 days before the Exaltation of the Cross.
