The Church today venerates the memory of Artemios the Great Martyr of Antioch.
St. Artemius lived during the reign of Constantine the Great, and was appointed by him as governor of Alexandria. During the subsequent reign of Julian the Apostate, in the year 361, Artemius appeared before the emperor and censured him for his apostasy. For this, he endured many torments and was finally beheaded.
Today is also the feast day of the Translation of the Holy Relics of Gerasimos of Cephalonia.
