Elder Ephraim’s health condition reported as stable, improved on Tuesday

The condition of the Elder Archimandrite Ephraim now appears as satisfactory, according to attending physicians on Tuesday, days after deterioration in his health resulted from hospital-acquired sepsis.

A tracheostomy was successfully conducted on the Elder on Tuesday, who remains intubated at the Evangelismos Hospital’s intensive care unit.

The beloved Abbot of the Holy & Great Monastery of Vatopedi has been treated at the specific public hospital in central Athens since May 28, suffering from the Covid-19 virus.

Attending physicians intubated the Elder on June 4.

As of Tuesday, the course of his condition was described as improved and stable.
