The Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of the Holy & Great Monastery of Vatopedi, remained intubated at an Athens hospital’s ICU unit for a sixth consecutive day on Wednesday. The Elder Ephraim’s condition was described as stable, without any deterioration discerned, according to attending physicians.
The beloved Elder was admitted to the Evangelismos Hospital on May 28 for treatment in a Covid-19 ward. His transfer to an enhanced care unit was deemed necessary on May 30.
Less than a week later, on June 4, physicians determined that the Elder should be intubated, due to complications from underlying health conditions.
Despite the complications, the Elder’s medical condition remains stable.
