Elder Archimandrite Ephraim intubated on Friday
The Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of the Holy & Great Monastery of Vatopedi, on Friday was intubated, following a decision by attending physicians at the Evangelismos Hospital in central Athens.
The Elder’s condition is described as stable.
The Elder Ephraim had been treated at the public hospital since last Friday for symptoms related to the Covid-19 virus. At the time, he was admitted to an intermediary care unit.
On Sunday evening, he was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) to receive respiratory support via a ventilator.
