Upon learning of the tragic event of the fire at the Cathedral of the Annunciation in Sydney, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew had telephone communication with Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
The Archbishop of Australia briefed the Ecumenical Patriarch on the initial estimates of the extent of the damage caused to the Cathedral by the fire, and thanked Him warmly, on behalf of the Holy Clergy and the Christ-loving people of Austria, for His love, and His constant paternal interest.
