Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew presented with commemorative tome during celebratory ceremony at University of Athens

The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, on Tuesday evening was presented with a commemorative tome by the University of Athens’ faculty of theology, on the occasion of the 30-year anniversary of His election to the throne of the Mother Church.
A celebratory event was held at the university’s main ceremonial hall and attended by Greek President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, and Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, as well as hierarchs of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Church of Greece, government ministers, academics, clergymen and numerous faithful.

In his address, entitled “Selected Theology”, His All Holiness underlined that the Church needs theologians with an Orthodox experience and an ecclesiastical ethos.

In greeting the Ecumenical Patriarch, Sakellaropoulou emphasized that Bartholomew I is a mainstay of Hellenism, Orthodoxy and Christianity in general.
