The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, on Monday met with members of an international team of experts and professionals to discuss the preservation, restoration and possibilities of utilizing the historic Prinkipo Greek Orthodox Orphanage, located on the eponymous Marmara Sea Isle.

The building, considered the second largest wooden structure in the world, is closely identified with contemporary Hellenism and Orthodoxy in the Bosporus metropolis.

The Ecumenical Patriarch welcomed the experts, who traveled to Constantinople from many countries, and briefed them over the history of the orphanage as well as over the tireless efforts of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to preserve this unique site.
