The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, this week addressed a new appeal to the government of Turkey to allow the reopening of the Halki School of Theology, which he underlined has contributed a great deal to Christianity, culture and humanity.
His All Holiness spoke during the opening of a conference organized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate on the topic of “The Synodal Circular of 1920: 100 years of significant influence”.

In touching on the substance of the conference, the Ecumenical Patriarch reminded that the Circular expresses the “spirit of Halki”, whose main characteristics were openness to the world and a confidence in the power of dialogue.
