Two Parliament deputies of the lesser opposition party Kinima Allaghis, Vassilis Kegeroglou and Dimitris Konstantopoulos, have tabled a draft amendment in Parliament foreseeing the creation of a foreign-language department at the Patriarchal University Ecclesiastical Academy of Crete.
The two lawmakers tabled their amendment to coincide with a draft bill submitted by the relevant education and religious affairs ministry, which came up for debate and a vote by the plenum this week.
If accepted for inclusion in the draft bill and subsequently ratified, the amendment would allow the establishment of an undergraduate department for non-Greek students who do not have Greek citizenship and are not holders of secondary school diplomas issued in the country.
