Renowned Greek composer and political activist Mikis Theodorakis died on Thursday at the age of 96.
Theodorakis composed a wide range of music, from operas and classical symphonic works, chamber music, ballet and ecclesiastical music, as well as film scores, music for ancient drama, theater and post-symphonic pieces. The modern Greek cultural icon leaves behind a massive legacy. Years ago, among others, he stated “I have been a resistance fighter, and a communist, but at the same time a Christian, an individual who believes in Orthodoxy.”
One of Theodorakis’ last interviews, given in 2019 to Pemptousia, has been posted today on the relevant webpage.
