Con-celebratory services based on centuries-old Athonite rite are being held this week at the St. Nicholas Monastery in Porto Lagos,a in commemoration of the wonder-working icon of the Panaghia Pantanissa, whose feast day is today, Sept. 24.
The monastery is a glebe of the Holy & Great Monastery of Vatopedi, on Mount Athos, and is located in the northeast Thrace region.
The St. Nicholas monastery is located on two small islets in the middle of Lake Vistonida.
