Clerics’ association on Hios expresses solidarity with residents opposed to another asylum seekers’ shelter on isle

The board of directors of the clerics’ association of the Holy Archdiocese of Hios, Psara and Oinousses, this week bemoaned what it called the central government’s continued disregard for the will of local island residents, who remain opposed to the creation of another, even larger reception center on Hios for asylum seekers that are ferried to the island by migrant smugglers operating from the opposite Turkish coast.
