Church of Greece Holy Synod to consider five vacant Metropolitan thrones next month

Members of the Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece convened for a second straight day on Friday.

The permanent Holy Synod accepted the resignation of the Metropolitan of Thira, Amorgos and the Isles, His Eminence Epiphanios.

As such, the upcoming session of the permanent Holy Synod on Oct. 8 will convene at the Holy Monastery of Penteli, north of Athens proper. Hierarchs of the Holy Synod will consider the election of new Metropolitans for the Church of Greece’s Metropolises of Lagada, Kastoria, Kilkis, Peristeri and Thira.
