Members of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece this week concluded their three-day sessions for the month of June, chaired by the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos.
In terms of an education ministry draft bill unveiled this week, which includes provisions for secondary ecclesiastical academies in the country, a Holy Synod-appointed delegation of three Metropolitans met on Thursday afternoon with the relevant education and religious affairs minister, Niki Kerameos.

The delegation of hierarchs presented the minister with a letter from the Holy Synod, which includes 14 specific proposals by the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece towards the government, proposals aimed at revising certain provisions in the draft legislation, especially ones dealing with the regime governing secondary ecclesiastical academies and their number, currently at four around Greece.

The Church opposes any change in the status of the academies or their reduction in number.
