The first place of worship dedicated to St. Kallinikos of Edessa was inaugurated within the northern Greece Metropolis of Edessa, Pella and Almopias.
Specifically, His Eminence Metropolitan Joel on Sunday morning officiated at the dedication ceremony of the chapel of St. Kallinikos, in the village of Mesimeri.
In June 2020, the Sacred and Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople canonized 20th-century Holy Hierarch Kallinikos of Edessa.
The newly canonized saint’s relics were solemnly uncovered and placed in the Metropolitan cathedral of the city of Edessa in October 2020.
