The Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidophoros, on Tuesday convened a virtual Archdiocese Council meeting.
In his opening remarks, His Eminence highlighted the recent accomplishments of the Archdiocese, and detailed what he called the historic upcoming events in the course of the Archdiocese of America –including:
• An upcoming visit of His All-Holiness, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I to America in late October.
• the Inauguration of St. Nicholas National Shrine, at Ground Zero in Manhattan, in November, followed by the opening of the Shrine next spring
• Continuing initiatives on the occasion of this year’s bicentennial of the beginning of the Greek Revolution
• The upcoming 100th anniversary of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, as well as tremendous progress, as he said, achieved at Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology.
