Metropolitan Evgenios elected new Archbishop of Crete

The Church of Crete’s Metropolitan of Rethymno & Avlopotamos, His Eminence Evgenios, has been elected by members of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople’s Sacred & Holy Synod as the new Archbishop of Crete.
Evgenios is now expected to travel to the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s Phanar-district seat to accept his election by way the Lesser Minima (message).
Once accepted, the celebratory service of the Greater Minima, during which the Metropolitan’s election will be announced in the cathedral, will follow.
