Greek PM Mitsotakis attends Church of Greece Holy Synod session on Mon.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as widely reported last week, on Monday morning attended an extraordinary session of the Permanent Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece, with the presence of a head of government at the specific session called “historic”. Mitsotakis was accompanied by Education and Religious Affairs Minister Niki Kerameos.
The focus of stepped-up contacts in Greece of late between the Church and state has been on measures that will apply against the spread of the coronavirus during the upcoming Christmas, New Year’s and Epiphany holidays.
Additionally, the course of the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination program in the country was discussed.
