Patriarch-Catholicos of All Georgia Ilia II receives US ambassador in Tbilisi

The Patriarch-Catholicos of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, on Thursday received the US ambassador to the country, Kelly Degnan, at the Patriarchate’s seat in Tbilisi.
According to reports, the US diplomat congratulated the Primate of the Georgian Orthodox Church on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of his enthronement, while praising the Patriarch’s role in the course of the Georgian people over the past four and a half decades.

Degnan also cited what she called a great honor for the United States to participate in the preservation of two major cultural monuments in Georgia, namely, two historic Orthodox monasteries.
