Quake-destroyed church on Crete to be rebuilt in same exact spot

Greece’s culture ministry has allocated 1.5 million euros for restoration works on monuments damaged during a pair of strong quakes that struck the Archalochori region on Crete in late September this year.
The relevant culture minister, Lina Mendoni, this week was accompanied by the Metropolitan of Archalochori, Kastelli and Viammos, His Eminence Andreas, during an inspection of the severely damaged Church of the Prophet Elijah in the specific town.
A study has already commenced for the construction of a same-sized and styled cathedral in the exact same spot where the Prophet Elijah church stood.
