Event honoring His Eminence Elder Archbishop Demetrios, formerly of America

His Eminence Elder Archbishop Demetrios, formerly of America, was honored at an event on Monday highlighting the publication of a book by Holy Cross Orthodox Press in his honor.

The event took place at the Maliotis Cultural Center at the Hellenic College – Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology.

His Eminence served as the distinguished professor of Biblical Studies and Christian Origins at Holy Cross from 1983 to 1993, training many of America’s Greek Orthodox clergy. He also taught at Harvard Divinity School as visiting professor of New Testament.

His successor, the Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidophoros, attended the event and addressed his esteemed predecessor, noting that “…I hope you feel the love, respect, and admiration” of all those whose spiritual and scholarly journeys you’ve inspired.
