The Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, arrived in the Arkalohori region of Crete on Thursday to personally inspect the damages left behind by a 5.8 on the Richter scale earthquake that struck the area on Monday.
In a related development, the Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church on Thursday also issued a message to the faithful in the greater Athens area on the occasion of the new Sunday school year, where he noted, among others, that “…The Lord Himself directs us to request, to knock on closed doors, to seek out and to then to learn, to be enlightened, to be certain we that we possess all the supplies needed for the journey to meet Him.”
