Patriarch of Serbia: Church shouldn’t be identified with a state, let alone with a political party

The Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Porfirije, on Wednesday underlined that he will not allow anyone to manipulate the Church, adding that by no means should the Church be identified with a particular state, let alone with a political party.

His Holiness noted, after officiating at a Divine Liturgy in the Croatian capital: “…We don’t want to equate the Church with any state, let alone any party. We will do everything with all our spiritual strength, not to allow anyone to manipulate us.”
